Holistic Healing

  • Mindfulness is an indispensable skill to have in our frantic fast-paced modern lifestyle. Like a mini vacation, mindfulness can effectively reset our flustered brain to a refreshing and rested awakening state, without the need to travel far or spending a lot of time and money. New research has demonstrated that regular practice remarkably improves both mental and physical health, as well as enhancing creativity, concentration, compassion, quality of life, relationships, and work productivity. I incorporate an array of practices that cultivate mindfulness in my therapy sessions, mindfulness groups, and workshops tailored to help you feel and perform at your best.
  • Mindfulness is about practicing control of attention intentionally, in the here-and-now without making judgments. The objective is to raise awareness to the moment-to-moment experiences both internally and externally. Mindfulness practice helps you see more clearly the patterns of the mind and recognize your bodily reactions during your mood shifts. It teaches you a way in which you can get back in touch with the experience of being alive by focusing on the present moment, rather than reliving the past or pre-living the future. You learn to discover that unwanted thoughts and feelings can be helpful in a simple nonjudgemental awareness, and seen from a new perspective; one that brings with it a sense of gratitude and compassion to the suffering you are experiencing.
  • Meditation is a mindfulness practice that helps us to regain equilibrium and have deeper access to the subtle dimensions of life. By going inward, you are going into direct experience with you energy source, the essence of your true being. As you become better at reflecting your inner wisdom, watching resistances, sharing, and forgiving, you are able to integrate your inner spiritual knowing into your daily life. A sample of meditation techniques includes: Seated Meditation, Walking Meditation, Progressive Relaxation, Guided Imagery, and Mandala Drawing…etc.

  • Reiki treatment offer a complementary form of holistic healing that can accelerate physical and emotional recovery, alleviate pain, bring peace to agitated minds while at the same time balancing the body’s energy system and bringing to it a state of well-being. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive kind of healing where people experience safety and unconditional love.
  • How it works?
    • Hands-on healing has been with us for as long as people have tried to help and comfort one another. It is a healing gift which we instinctively access and often take for granted. If you fall or injure a body part, usually the first thing you do is quickly place your hand over the injury, and press or rub the area until it feels better. Whether it be a crying child being soothed in the arms of their parent or a gentle hand assisting the frail elderly, all these simple acts of kindness are at the basis of touch healing.
    • In today’s world of high-tech materialism, many of us are returning to natural methods of healing. In our search for wellness, we are reminded of our ancient ancestors who knew about the importance of body-mind-spirit connection long before we existed. Their legacy is our heritage and their wisdom is our gift. In the practice of Reiki, we are becoming aware of the world of energy and that we are much more than what we appear to be. There is an invisible world around and within us, a subtle energy force that governs our way of life while also heals us if we learn how to access it.
    • Reiki treatment involves attuning chakras to create integration and wholeness within a person. Chakras are major energy centres located at various locations inside our body. There are seven of them, each is associated with a colour from the rainbow and has a specific function in helping a person’s body heal. When the chakras are open and evenly balanced with each other, we can feel a wonderful current of love and bliss flowing through them.
  • What to expect in treatment?
    • Throughout the treatment, you are invited to surrender to the healing power of REIKI. In turn, this activates the body’s natural ability to recover. I am here as a channel through which the healing life energy flows. To begin, you would lie down or sit in a comfortable position. There is no need to disrobe as the healing energy moves through clothing. I then rest my hands gently for about two minutes in each of a number of positions corresponding to the major organs, chakras, and endocrine glands. The arms, ands, legs and feet are often treated as well because stress and tension can be held in any part of the body. Often you may experience from my hands a soothing feeling of warmth or heat. At other times it can manifest as a cool, refreshing sensation. Emotions are sometimes touched and released allowing your body to feel lighter and freer. Reiki is mobile and travels to where it is needed. In receiving a Reiki treatment, it is important to remember that healing is more comprehensive process than just an instant bodily cure. You don’t have to believe in Reiki for it to have a deep effect on you. You don’t have to believe that fruit is delicious in order to enjoy it but you do have to take a bite first.

  • Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being. A growing body of scientific research shows the fact that scent has a profound effect on the cerebral part responsible for emotions. The limbic system processes both odour and emotions, making aroma and feelings inseparable. Essential oils can therefore help cleanse, release, and balance our thoughts and emotional disturbances. The inhaled aroma from these essential oils is widely believed to stimulate cognitive function, mood elevation, pain relief, and reduce insomnia. They can also be absorbed through the skin, where they are diffused into the bloodstream and the lymphatic system to promote whole-body healing.
  • I use a variety of essential oil blends during sessions to maximum the benefits of our therapeutic time together. The most powerful and dynamic learning responses occur when we engage all of our five senses. I believe that aromatherapy can work as a pleasant catalyst for creating a comprehensive and inspiring healing experience.

  • A good old Chinese proverb of “We become what we eat” remarks the indivisible bond between our diet and our sense of wellbeing. In Western diet, foods are evaluated for proteins, calories, vitamins and other nutritional contents. However, in Chinese diet, we look for not only nutrition but also the energetic properties (Yin, Yang, or Balanced) of food and where they end up in our organs. My mom is a Traditional Chinese Doctor who has been practicing herbal medicine and acupuncture for nearly three decades. Nurtured in her wisdom, I grew up appreciating the powerful impact that our food intake has on our physical and emotional health due to their unique energies. The five kinds of sensations generated by foods can be described as cold (Yin), cool (Yin), neutral, warm (Yang), and hot (Yang). Our body operates the best when it’s at the neutral energy state, which requires a diet balancing between the complementary Yin and Yang energies. A well-balanced neutral diet is not only thought to improve your physical health by improving digestion and boosting the immune system, but also enhance your emotional and spiritual well-being. This ancient tradition has been adopted for more than 2,000 years to help people maintain health and beauty, and to gain stamina.
  • In collaboration with my mom’s consultation, I can offer holistic nutrition counselling as part of our therapy together to help you optimize a delicious part of your life.
